The study: Efficacy of ceramides and niacinamide-containing moisturizer versus hydrophilic cream in combination with topical anti-acne treatment in mild to moderate acne vulgaris: A split face, double-blinded, randomized controlled trial

The study examines the effectiveness and tolerability of a ceramide and niacinamide-containing moisturizer (CCM) versus hydrophilic cream when used with topical anti-acne treatments in patients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Conducted as an 8-week randomized, double-blinded, split-face trial with 40 participants, it found that CCM significantly improved both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions compared to hydrophilic cream. There were no significant differences in adverse reactions, suggesting both treatments are well-tolerated. The study concludes that CCM combined with anti-acne medication can significantly enhance acne treatment outcomes without increasing cutaneous irritation
